I'm really glad this resonated. I suspect the expensive "good life" was always there but we just ignored it when we were young. Perhaps as our incomes have increased we just got access to it and don't want to go back!

Not much better in Manchester - a £7 pint wouldn't surprise me hear. I remember thinking it was crazy when I heard of London hitting £5!
